oll bod Llydaweg, a Chernyweg, yn aelodau o'n teulu Brythoniaid o ieithoedd a
diwylliant. Mae'r cysylltiad hynafol hwn,
a ddathlir yn flynyddol yng Ngŵyl Lorient yn wythnos gyntaf mis Awst,
wedi parhau dros y canrifoedd fel y tystia'r defnydd o Llydaw sydd yma fel sail i'n set, sydd wedi'i cynnwys ers blynyddoedd yn ein llyfrau emynau. Sylwa Frank Hennessy y gellir ailgylchu alaw dda mewn sawl ffordd ac mae Jig Llydaw yn tystio i hyn, gan gyflwyno'r alaw wreiddiol mewn ffurf jig. Llydaw is the Welsh name for
Brittany, a fellow member of the Brythonic Celtic family
of languages and culture. This
ancient association which is celebrated annually in the
Lorient Festival, held in the first week of August
has lasted over the centuries as testified by the use of Llydaw as one of our hymn tunes for many years. Frank Hennessy remarks that a good tune can be recycled well in many ways and Jig Llydaw testifies this, playing the original melody as a jig. Note the B5 chord which leaves the democratic option of Bminor or Bmajor/ B7 to the accompanists. The simply structured Jig y Goes Chwith completes the lightening of the mood of the set iin three repeating parts, each including a repeating phrase. |
